The empty cabin of an airplane

A passenger minding his business on a flight got sucked into an uncomfortable situation between a couple.

The 45-year-old asked Reddit’sAmITheA—— subredditif he was in the wrong for refusing to switch seats with a fellow traveler, who sat between the original poster (OP) and her own husband.

“After settling in, the wife leans over towards me with a sweet smile and says, ‘Would you be a darling andswitch seats with me? I really can’t fly well in a middle seat,’ " he shared.

The woman then replied, “Oh, my husband would never sit in the middle or at a window… so maybe you can do a woman a favor and switch?”

OP explained, “I told her that I really apologize but I won’t do it.”

He knew the woman wouldn’t be happy not getting what she wanted, but he was surprised when “Moments later, I hear her yelling at her husband in another language (which I am fluent in) that ‘The jerk won’t switch seats so you got to switch with me.'”

But the story wasn’t done yet. OP watched asthe husband switched seats with his wife. Then, the husband “leans over with a smile and says that his wife switched with him because she has diarrhea and needs the aisle in case she must run.”

People agreed with OP’s decision to stay out of what seemed like either a spat between the couple or a passenger feeling entitled.

“I travel a lot for work and this happens so much. Am a woman in my 30s so ppl 100% think I should be a nice girl and move - even cabin crew sometimes! Never surrender lol,” one commenter wrote.

Another commenter hilariously wrote, “I’d have answered that old man back in his language ‘your wife is a bully, enjoy her diarrhea.’ "

OP confirmed he then got his last word, adding, “I actually did wish them a good rest of the day in their language at the end of their flight…. the look on her face was priceless.”
