Olivia Jade is struggling to come to terms with the backlash she’s faced since her parents Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli were charged in the nationwidecollege admissions scam.
“Olivia is still distraught and embarrassed. She hasn’t been home much,” a source tells PEOPLE of the popular YouTuber. “She is very angry with her parents. She just wants to figure out how she can rebuild her brand.”
Olivia Jade, who was vocal about herindifferent attitude toward schoolbefore the scandal broke, “blames her parents for everything,” the source adds.
“She would have never gone along with it if she thought this would happen. Her thing is that she trusted her parents,” the source says. “Olivia spends most of her time with close friends andher boyfriend.” (She is dating model/musician Jackson Guthry.)

The source adds: “Olivia had her own life and business. She was always very driven and worked very hard to achieve what she had. This was her passion. She was honest about that she didn’t really care about school. But her business, she was always very serious about. She most certainly will find a way to start over again. She isn’t someone that gives up easily.”
Earlier this month, Loughlin, 54, and Giannulli, 55, were among dozens charged in an alleged college admissions cheating scam involving elite colleges and universities including Yale, Georgetown, the University of Southern California and Stanford.
TheFuller Housestar and the Mossimo clothing company founder allegedly gave $500,000 to say Olivia Jade was part of the USC rowing team when that was not true, the indictment states.
The couple face felony chargesof conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud after being arrested in March.
Loughlin, Giannulli and Olivia Jade have faced intense backlash, and the 19-year-oldhas no intention of returning to school.
“She didn’t care if she got into USC. She just wanted to focus on her business,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “She feels that she worked very hard for something that she loves, and she has no idea what will happen with her business in the future.”
On Wednesday, Loughlin and Giannulli appeared in a Boston court to face the presiding judge for the first time regarding their alleged involvement in the nationwide scam.
During their six-minute hearing, they waived their right for a preliminary hearing. They also agreed to several pretrial conditions, including surrendering their passports and no possession of firearms. After the hearing, Loughlin reached over to the next table to shake the hands of the prosecutors.
The couple did not enter pleas in the case against them. Another court date for them has not been set.
