Margot Robbieis ready forLady Gagato take over the role of Harley Quinn.
TheBarbiestar, 33, shared her excitement for the 37-year-old performer to step into the role in the upcoming sequelJoker: Folie á DeuxduringVarietyandEntertainment Tonight’sGolden Globe 2024 Awardsdigital pre-show.
“Oh my god, she’s going to crush it. Are you kidding? She’s going to be amazing, I can’t wait to see it,” she told host Marc Malkin.

When asked if the pair had texted about the role, Robbie — who played Quinn in 2016’sSuicide Squad— responded, “I actually haven’t spoke to her about it. I almost don’t want to know so I can save it for the surprise when I get to see the movie.”
“It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor,” Robbie said at the time.
“And I feel like in not so many cases are they female characters,” she explained. “Queen ElizabethI, but like beyond that — which I got to have a crack at as well, which I was honored to do. I was like, ‘Wow, Cate Blanchett didQueen ElizabethI. Now I get to.'”
She added of Gaga: “It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters who other actors get to have a go at playing. And I think she’ll do something incredible with it.”
Lady Gagaconfirmed her casting in director Todd Phillips’Joker: Folie à Deuxon social media in August 2022, postingan animated videoof her andJoaquin Phoenix’s silhouettes set to old-timey music.
In April, Gaga and the director shared thatthey finished filmingthe highly-anticipated sequel on their respectiveInstagrampages.
“That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom,” Phillips wrote in a caption to the two photos. One image shows Gaga staring into the camera while wearing light clown makeup; another features Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck / Joker in full makeup and costume, tilting his head to the right in a seated position.
“Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together,” the director added in his caption.
Gaga kept her message to fans eagerly anticipating theJokersequel short, simply writing: “That’s a wrap ❤️🔥 🎬🃏 X, Harleen.”
