The kind words of affirmation left McCain feeling both inspired and grateful.
“I don’t even know what to say other than this is one of the most beautiful notes anyone has ever posted on my social media accounts. Thank you @jrnagler – your bravery and kindness are truly inspirational,” she captioned the screenshot of the post.
“Living your truth in a world that can be cruel is true courage. Thank you again for this wonderful message, made my Sunday. 🏳️🌈♥️🇺🇸🌈 (this was a public message commented on my last Instagram picture FYI, not a private one),” she wrote.
On Sunday, the daughter of the lateSen. John McCainwas awarded the Harvey Milk Foundation’s Lilla Watson Medal at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. (Harvey Milk was the San Francisco supervisor who fought for equal rights before his assassination more than 40 years ago.)
McCain shared a photo from the event, where she posed on the red carpet and said that it “is an honor and a privilege to be an LGBTQ advocate and ally.”

At the Sergei Magnitsky Human Rights Awards on Thursday, theco-host ofThe Viewaccepted the award for outstanding contribution to human rights law on behalf of the family patriarch.
The latepolitician and war herowas chosen for the honor because of his advocacy for the Magnitsky Act. The 2012 act put sanctions on Russia after Magnitsky, a lawyer working to counteract the nation’s human rights violations, died in jail, according toThe Washington Post.

Since his death, McCain has been active in keeping her dad’s memory alive.
On Veterans Day, sheposted a picture of her father in uniformand wrote onInstagram, “I miss you so much Dad, thank you for showing me what fighting for something greater than yourself means.”
