look like Maggie an Marty are trading in investigating the mysterious return of the dead for real crime . And they ’re weirdly better at looting and execution than they are metaphysical questions . But the true star of Sunday was the different expressions of fail occlusion .
Sunday ’s episode relegate down into Henry and Jacob and Marty and Maggie enquire Caleb . With a little flake of Pastor Tom throw in for good measuring
Henry and Jacob
With Kurtwood Smith turning in another heartrending execution , this was easily the effective storyline this hebdomad . He and Lucille have an unrelenting uncomfortable conversation about Henry ’s complex feelings . Henry ca n’t deal with Jacob , because he keeps call back the pain of losing “ their Jacob . ” Lucille responds by asking why there has to be two , why ca n’t they be one and the same .
Henry explains that Jacob has never gone aside for him , since he blames himself for teach Jacob to love the river . Because of that guilty conscience , he ’s never let Jacob go . Therefore , the returned Jacob is a 2nd Jacob and he fundamentally accuse Lucille of letting go of their son too easily .
In term of plot , very picayune materialise with Henry , Lucille , and Jacob this week . alternatively , the show perish for the emotions this hebdomad . Henry ’s unfitness to deal with Jacob is more than just a denial of the possibility , but alternatively something that convey up all his guilty conscience about Jacob ’s dying . Maggie and Marty ’s Investigation

They regain the holes Caleb dug at his search hutch and the inter mask , which , along with newspaper clippings from the day Caleb died , lead Marty to the conclusion that Caleb was ask in the bank robbery they mention . So they decide to go talk to the guy who found Caleb dead the first time , but they find a bloody house and corpse .
Meanwhile , Caleb , like Jacob , is eat on everything in the house . Add that to the similarity inclination . And when he contribute Elaine a paper traveling bag luncheon , she breaks down crying because no one ’s take aid of her in so long . Now , before it looked like Caleb was just yield Elaine what she wanted to take heed , but now we bed that the bank that was hook three years ago was the one Elaine worked at . So I retool my hypothesis to say that Caleb somehow used some info Elaine had in ordering to overcharge the bank ( like security shifts or secret alarms or whatever ) , and he ’s trying to make up for it now .
Which is interesting , because Elaine may just think her founding father ’s reform , and he may even think that . But , even discount the murder , he is n’t really . Because he has n’t come clean . He ’s assay to make amends without actually admitting fault and need for pardon .
Assorted Bits and Pastor Tom
The stay region of this episode are equally split between Pastor Tom and Fred Langston dealing with the news of his wife ’s unfaithfulness .
As suspect , the villagers are freaked out by Lucille thinking her dead son ’s return . They seem evenly split up between “ mad ” and “ employment of the daemon . ” So they , without consulting Pastor Tom , balloting to ban Lucille and Jacob from the church premises . Pastor Tom is not all right with this , tell one individual that Jacob ’s comeback is a miracle from God and then fighting to board on the banning .

And in what I ’m run to assume is his desperation just want an outlet , no matter how ridiculous , Fred goes into a streak and just goes into “ Ever obtain out a nasty mystery about someone after they die ? I just found out my wife had an affair . ” He says he really wish that she ’d been murdered by her lover , since then he could go after the guy . As it is though , he just says that he may not be able to check himself if he learn the guy . The guy is , of line , sitting at the bar .
I almost hope Fred knew that , and contribute the lecture as a manner of warning the guy and arrive back at him a footling .
The two Langston brother , despite relying a number too much on telling rather than show , actually worked . Not only was the act goodness , the two narrative had a uniting theme : resolution . Henry never let go of Jacob , so his return is forcing him to face that . Jacob ’s comeback also reverse whatever sense of resolution Fred had , forcing him to opine with a whole new reality . In weird way of life , Caleb ’s story is also about closure : the radioactive dust from the unsolved bank looting . Caleb is also dealing with this poorly , from murdering accomplices to overcompensating with his daughter .
