An alleged robbery attempt in West Palm Beach, Fla., resulted in the death of a father who’d taken a second job as a pizza delivery driver to support his children, authorities say, according to multiple reports.

Police allege three people — Marcus T. Williams, 29, Avianna Williams, 25, and Elijsha Wingfield, 25 — approached Anderson and shot him while trying to rob him, according toWPBFandThe Palm Beach Post, which cite arrest reports.

According to the arrest report, Wingfield and Williams were allegedly armed with a 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle, respectively, when they got out of the car and surrendered to police.

During the interrogation, Wingfield allegedly told police that he “was in need of money and was expecting a paycheck, which he didn’t receive,” the arrest report said, per WPBF.The Palm Beach Post, citing the arrest report, reported that one of the WIlliamses allegedly told police he had spotted Anderson’s car and told Wingfield, who had been driving, to stop and “see what he’s got.”

It’s not immediately clear if any of the suspects have have entered pleas or retained attorneys.

The West Palm Beach Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on the incident.

Anderson’s family told WPBF andCBS 12that it had only been his second day on the job when the shooting happened. They said he had been working another job, but had taken on the second job in order to help support his two children.

“It’s a senseless killing," Tommie Anderson Jr, the victim’s father, told CBS 12. “He just started at Domino’s pizza, had been [on] for two days. What can you get off killing a pizza delivery guy? He ain’t got no money or anything like that. That’s what I can’t understand. I’ve been up all night, hurt, crying.”
