Photographic negative . They reckon like unknown poltergeists , or an oddworld rendering of our earth . But as you proved forthis workweek ’s Shooting Challenge , they ’re not just unknown ; negatives can also be beautiful .
Winner: Bronzed
Walking in Toronto on a pause from a shoot , I had my trusty side arm with me , a Panasonic GM1 , coiffe at f9 1/400 200 iso . The clouds were murky and drear but just as a I get to this office edifice hold back for the igniter to change , some clouds parted and allow through the bright blasphemous sky hide out above . It made for a perfect contrast between vivid and dark and a squeamish grim gradient ( which of course turn orange ) . The fun part was seeing the office ignitor convert to black-market , I am remind of a binary computer code or a DNA mental testing strip of some sort . Fun !

Tiny Flowers
My married woman has been gardening and these tiny flowers pop out up recently . I love the colour they bring out so i compute if the literal coloring are so decent the negative well be just as practiced . Nikon D610 , 50 millimetre f/1.4 , ISO 250 , 1/800 sec .

Cup Of Soup/Zombie Brains
The base image is of a cupful of soup ( kick flavor ) . I like the way the dome jiggle on the spoon . The image was captured with a Nokia 635 . The noodles are given an eery glow with the electronegative process as if they are being transilluminated from below .
The image was then processed in GIMP 2.8.14 to convert it to a negative . The images were then resize in Microsoft Paint as I find it promiscuous to use for the simple stuff .

Fuck Carbos
I expend a couple of months doing weight unit training and eating high kilogram calorie . This week , I ’m shocking my body with an highly low carbohydrate intake / eminent protein and increased cardio to trim down some of the undesirable amplification that was inevitable . I be intimate carbs … LOVE carbs . daylight two of “ fuck carbos ” week was yesterday and it was cake day at workplace . Stayed strong , but snapped a pic of the cake ( what was leave , anyway ) . I love cake . iPhone 6 Plus , Negative Me app , Instagram app , Juno filter

The Light Side
Not the formal “ negative ” But it is a negative ! Yesterday my boss take in a coloring book from the 80 ’s for a collection box at work . I twitch through it and at the death establish this ! I had to take a pic of it ! It look like the last page was Darth and it was colored on , forget in the book for a year , then buck out , sat for 30 years , and create this negative . Hope it counts !

Third Avenue
I took the original video while I was walking down Third Avenue in NYC . The original picture was of a reddish brown building on a semi - cloudy day . A part of the sorry sky was chew over down the middle of the construction . I took this picture with my Canon 5dMark III using my 24 - 105 mm litre f4 lens system . It was shot at f/5.6 . 1/1000 sec at 200 ISO . The focal duration was 24 mm . I used aperture priority and worked the original birthday suit shot in Lightroom 6 . I used GIMP to convert it from the “ normal ” guesswork to the Negative one . No other enhancements were done after the GIMP conversion .

Parallel Universe
I made a cup of Americano for myself , and it looked so effective , I had to take a picture :) . I then used the built - in Android photo editor program to adjust vulnerability , contrast , and finally invert and get the negative effect . The white cupful became a black magnifying glass , and the coffee bean bubbles reminded me of continent of a satellite , or even stars of a galaxy … Equipment : Moto ecstasy

Radioactive Apples
For this challenge , I decided to try a still life of dissimilar apple . These are a scarlet delicious , a gran smith , and a jazz apple . After turn back the image , it appear like the fruit was radiate . This was taken with a Pentax K-5 IIs , which I had rented for the calendar week . The lens is a 50 - 135 mm . Cat Puzzle
I scoot this with my Samsung Galaxy S5 and then used the Negative Photo Effect . I re - sized in Photoshop Elements . It is a puzzler me and my wife had been working on of our cats and I think the negative might show the puzzler small-arm lines more conspicuously , which it kind of did . What I did n’t bear was the bully sky blue angel the board would make .

Highlights
During a sojourn to an I * * * store I launch this accumulation of marker , crayon , etc . All in smart acute colour . In negative they change to these beautiful pastel .

Buds
I prefer to take a photo go my of late developed medium format negatives and then reverse the image to negative so the photo would calculate airless to normal color . It ’s not going to be precise color but it do out cool ! Equipment used was my Canon 6D and Sigma 24 - 70 .
Eddie Smith
Willow
This is a lone willow tree diagram under a starry night , shot with a Nikon D750 and a 30 second exposure . Bread Line
I was wandering the DC tidal basin and come across the FDR Memorial – a little move around receptive strain piece that is just vivid . At first I was draw to literal minus dramatis personae of sculpture , as I thought I might be clever for this competition .
Instead , I was drawn to the sculpture of the Depression Era dinero line . By getting in blotto and opening the aperture way up , the sculpture was the whole creation – no tidal washstand verdure . This was snap at f/1.8 with a shutter speed of 1/2500 at 35 mm . I used Lightroom to produce the negative .
Ian Shedd
Dice City
So I decide to take a stroll Sunday evening by the East River and find the perfect shooter for my submission for this workweek ’s shooting challenge .
I shot these on a Canon Rebel T1i at a focal length of 35 mm at F 4.6 just as the Sunday was setting behind the apparent horizon and creating perfect back light for the edifice . After sue the picture in photoshop and practice the negative issue the skyline looks like some kind of city of chicken feed with a berth apocalyptical sky and a frozen East River in front . White Walkers anyone ?
Zarif Taufiq
Baby Blues
After attend around Seattle for a cool shot , I proceed going back to the mentation of eye as a negative . I tried to enchant my Word ’s baby blue , but the jibe finish up looking better as a negative after convert to blackened and white . snap with a NIkon D610 .

Denver International Airport
Saturday at Denver International Airport ’s new hotel and transit expansion opening in part this fall . Looking from the eventual lobby of the hotel , across the open terrace to the south of the DIA Terminal . As a night modal value for iOS ’ overly shining blanched interface I keep ‘ invert colours ’ as an accessibility cutoff of triple click home base button . Used this to settle my shot(s ) as a ‘ negative ’ live viewfinder . straighten out , and cropped in Affinity Photo . Shot on iPhone 6 Plus , back camera , stock camera app .
Christopher Bates
Landscape Landscape
This scene is my backyard as the Sunday is rising . The three trees on the left are bring about white peak , the pasture is a brilliant green , and the fence along the back is a rust-brown red . I sprout this on a Canon T3i , 24 - 105 mm crystalline lens @ 24 mm focal length , f/5 , 1/125s , ISO 800 , and the “ Landscape ” picture way . The only adjustment was an anastrophe of the pic in PS for the “ damaging ” .
Jon McFadyen
Breakfast Plus
have a go at it the premise of this competition , so I had to throw my hat into my first submission . I am using a Nikon D90 with a 50 millimeter crystalline lens , using an f stop of 1.8 . Camera was give via hired man and the focal point was on the tasty sandwich itself .
I line up the reality of negatives fascinating , because they produce the most unexpected results , even when you ’re well cognisant of what the original count like . Nothing says salutary morning like a hearty breakfast , but to invert the coloring material create it seem like something out of Star Trek or breakfast under an electron microscope . If I were to title this guess , I would give it the name of Breakfast Plus .
Brendan McGarrity
Kasmus
This photo was taken as a landscape on the Gulf of Finland , in Kasmus , Estonia . I hold off till the sunset was just aright as to give the water and the sky the same tones . I used a 20 mm lens , set on a tripod at 45 seconds .
