Mystery Science Threater 3000 is almost back ! ( Oh man , saying that still give me shivers . ) It ’s been a tenacious prison term coming , but the reboot is ultimately set to introduction on Netflix on April 14 . And while the first season ’s already in the can , we ’ve got a few suggestions for what Jonah Ray , Tom Servo , and Crow T. Robot should riff next .
MST3 K riff a Inferno of a muckle of movies back in its prime , airing almost 200 episode and a movie , before getting scratch in 1999 . Still , there are rafts of B - flick they did n’t get to while they were on the air — not to bring up all the shitcrapthat ’s come out since then . I actually started this list with about 30 unlike picture , and skin it down was near impossible .

For the sake of not drive myself insane with an overabundance of choices , I chose to omit mockbusters and obvious parody , like Syfy ’s Sharknado and the Asylum “ classic ” Transmorphers , as well as movies that were bad but still managed to have some redeeming qualities , like Skyline and Iron Sky . Yes , I ’m aware that some of the picks have been done on Rifftrax , but they still deserve the Mystery Science Theater treatment . So here you go , a few popular picks ( and some personal indirect request ) for the next time of year of MST3K.
1) The Green Slime (1968)
And … I ’ve immediately infuriated all the hardcore MST3 K rooter ! Technically this cult classic is part of the MST3 K canyon . It was the subject of creator Joel Hodgson’sunaired pilotthat was pitched to local Minnesota TV station KTMA back in the day . But it was never turned into a full episode , and it ’s a damn ignominy . It ’s all about a grouping of astronauts who fight against one - eyeball , tentacled monsters with the ability to shoot out bolt of electricity . In shortsighted , it was made for MST3 K , and it deserves to get a full riff .
2) The Devil’s Rain (1975)
This repulsion campfest is about a group of Satanists in the American rural landscape who can melt their victims with their evil demonic powers . It ’s set out goat people , Puritans trapping in eternal torture , and shirtless William Shatner . In other Word , pure gold .
3) The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)
There ’s a reason there ’s anentire documentarydedicated to how fucked up this movie was . The H.G. Wells taradiddle was drawn and quartered and left on a stick for the Crow , part thanks to Marlon Brando ’s on - determine insanity and Val Kilmer ’s apparent refusal to put down the bong . The outcome is a confusing great deal of factor splicing , Brando - revere animal hybrid , and long shot of human being cry in the rain . Fairuza Balk is half - quat .
4) The Giant Claw (1957)
It ’s a bird … it ’s a plane … oh wait tinker’s damn it ’s actually a elephantine bird . FROM SPACE ! The Giant Claw is all about a weird vulture - looking monstrosity that invades Earth and causes terror everywhere it drop dead . Plus , it ’s drive a power field that renders all weapons incapacitated . What will our hoagy do ? Probably laugh themselves to death over what is arguably the crappiest elephantine monster in cinematic history .
5) Mac and Me (1988)
Hey guys , think of how E.T. was , like , extremely pop ? Well , McDonald ’s is majestic to present Mac and Me ( seriously , Ronald McDonald introduces the trailer ) ! But Mac is whole his own thing . rather of an additional - sublunar who ’s separated from his family , he ’s a “ Mysterious Alien Creature ” who ’s separated from his family . And he makes friend with a boy , only this kid does n’t fly a cycle … because he ’s in a wheelchair . Also , he gets murdered .
6) Birdemic (2010)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-y53CRSF9Q
I ’ve tried to avoid films that were riffed to destruction , but rules do n’t utilize when it comes to Birdemic . This is scifi ’s The Room , when a director ’s egotism and desire to change the world get together a full lack of basic filmmaking skills . There are global warming - drive slayer birds , million - dollar line of work peck , and lots of fishing trip … such as seal . count , it was either this orThe astonishing Bulk , and even I would n’t want Jonah and the work party to suffer that much .
7) Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter (1966)
Cowboys vs. Aliens is n’t the first clock time the Wild West has knock tangelo with science fabrication . In this 1960s camp - fest , Frankenstein ’s granddaughter ( yeah I know , the title is misleading ) turns Jesse James ’ truehearted pal into an abomination as part of her crazy experiments . There ’s seduction , heavy weapon fight , and lots of child murder . The last part is a petty embarrassing .
8) Cat-Women of the Moon (1953)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVrPOGoQLao
Sexy evil cat - women who want to predominate Earth by killing all the dudes and mind - controlling the ladies ? Hell , sign me up .
9) Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe (1991)
This scifi thriller is kind of what happens when you combine The Terminator with Jupiter Ascending , with a touch of Hell Comes To Frogtown for the icky rapey vibes . succeeding Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura stars as an intergalactic distance cop who ’s tag down a rogue stranger refer Secundus who want to impregnate a woman with a superintendent - baby that could put down the world . Of course , the pregnancy is done via belly touch , but still , arrant .
10) Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny (1972)
A Rifftrax favorite , this is one of the most insane films in existence , and I go for to death that MST3 K continues its holiday movie tradition by attempting to tackle this fool . That would make it , simply , the beneficial Christmas - in - April ever .
